Beware! Dirty Rugs and Carpets Can Give You These Serious Diseases

Home is the haven of peace and prosperity for us and so are our offices. But it is also the place where there could be hidden dangers lurking at the corners. These could lead to a number of diseases for the inmates of the house and they are very dangerous since most people are completely unaware of their existence.

A number of studies opine that indoors armed with rugs and carpets function as filters for the home by trapping most of the airborne pollutants. As a result, they can create a much healthier environment. But like all other filters, they must also be cleaned from time to time. Since they are like reservoirs for various types of bacteria, allergens, and mold, regular carpet cleaning is imperative or else you could be affected by any of these common diseases.

Norovirus:

Also referred to as the Norwalk virus, this virus can live on your carpets for about a month or two. They can cause stomach flu along with digestive ailments. When we walk on the rugs and carpets, these virus flows into the air and combine with the dust. You should vacuum your carpet regularly for reducing the life span and spreading of Norovirus.

Salmonella:

It is a common disease-causing agent which enters the human body to cause diarrhea, fever, and cramps in the abdomen. The symptoms start hitting within 12 to 72 hours after infection and might stay for 4 to 7 days. Though salmonella has a very short life span, being affected by the bacteria can be dangerous for both children and adults. Also, checking the presence of the bacteria is quite easy: they are mostly traced at the bottom of shies, rugs, and carpets.

Kawasaki Syndrome:

Named after the Japanese physician who invented it, this is a rare health issue triggered when bacteria along with the chemical toxins present in the carpet enters the human lungs. It can cause different types of physical disabilities and in worst instances, it may lead to fatal consequences. Studies show that Kawasaki Syndrome is common in areas with dirty carpet though its origin is still idiopathic.

Mold:

Around 30 to 50 percent of structures around us serve as the breeding ground of mold and other pollutants. In moist climatic conditions, this percentage is even higher. When you have molds in the walls, carpets and other places, you become susceptible to developing diseases like asthma, allergy, pneumonitis and several other immunologic issues.

You can never list down the various kinds of inorganic and organic particles that have found their way in your home. They are collectively referred to as dust and cause dangerous health problems and studies reveal that 50 to 80 percent of asthma is caused by these mites. Besides, they are also responsible for causing other health ailments such as headaches, fatigue, and depression. Therefore, it is better to lay the responsibility on a reputed professional cleaning service for keeping your indoors clean and healthy. You should always remember that even though the surface appears to be harmless, your carpets are loaded with filth and microbes. So, have them cleaned by an expert AMG enjoy the warmth and comfort of your plush flooring for many years to come.
