There are many truths of life, and one of them is the fact that sofas do get dirty. One has no other alternative then to clean them. Although professional sofa cleaning has no substitute, however there are certain things which anyone can do to keep sofas looking fresh and clean.
Step 1 : Get the vacuum cleaner out.
The bigger dirt particles are somewhat easy to take care of. A simple vacuuming session would be sufficient to get them cleaned. Use the dust blaster feature of the vacuum cleaner to get rid of visible dust and dirt. Feel free to use the narrow crevice nozzle to get rid of the dust that settles in the hard to reach spots. Then take off the cushions if you can, and give them a solid jolt. Now its time to use the vacuuming feature to get rid of the dust within. Be generous and suck away all the accumulated debris and dust. This takes care of the first basic step of the process.
Step 2 : Remove Lint & Fur
Although in an office setting the chances of sofa having fur are rare. Provided you don’t allow pets in office. However there is no avoiding of lint here. Average vacuum cleaner is not powerful enough to suck away lint, hair and fur. For there there are many good roller types of equipment available in the market which can be used to remove lint and other similar dirt from your sofa. Please use them as lint and such elements over the life can tarnish the finish of the sofa.
Step 3: Brush The Sofa
Now its time to use the bristle brush to clean the sofa. Use a semi hard brush. Be careful not be too aggressive with the brush as it can damage the tender fabric of the sofa. This process does help in cleaning the sofa.
Step 4 : Wipe the Hard Surfaces
Use a good cleaning spray to clean the hard and exposed part of the sofa. We need to clean the entire sofa and not just the fabric part. Take a good wipe also and ensure that the spray zone is engulfing or reaching the fabric part. Be careful not to spray the fabric part. It might leading to fading of the colors.
The above mentioned 4 steps are sufficient to take care of the basic cleaning of the sofa. In our upcoming post we would discuss the professional sofa cleaning procedure.
